John Bowles has over 18 years of litigation experience in areas of real estate, landlord/tenant disputes, business litigation, taxation, and banking. John’s extensive knowledge of lending and banking practices provides him a deep understanding of the complex legal issues involved in defending foreclosures in Oregon. John is persistent in the courtroom and steadfast in settlement negotiations. Most importantly, John always takes the time to clearly communicate with his clients.
Before starting Bowles Fernández, John was the vice president of special assets in the workouts section of a Section 42 tax credit syndicator. Previously, John devoted a substantial amount of his career to tenants who were unable to afford legal representation.
A native Oregonian, John served in the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment of the United States Marine Corps. He attended the University of Oregon after his honorable discharge in 1984. During his studies at UofO, John took part in Foreign Exchange Language Programs in Beijing and Fuzhou, China. During law school, John focused on real property, international trade, business transactions, and foreign joint ventures. After law school, he worked as a litigation attorney on the island of Guam advising the Board of Directors for the Guam Housing Authority before returning to the U.S. to begin his real estate practice.
John is happily married with 3 children, is an active leader in the community, and speaks mandarin Chinese fluently.
